"The family’s 12-year-old son was chased down and tackled in the snow by Norwegian child welfare officials and police. Kai was being homeschooled by his parents after he had been mercilessly bullied in the local school. The family had hoped to make Norway (where Kai’s father, Leif, was born) their home after moving from Terese’s native Canada.
The family released this statement today on Facebook:
We are happy to announce that Kai is back in his home with his family. We are thrilled to see him again. We could not have done this without International support from others and helped make this happen for us. We are eternally grateful! Our lawyer advised us to only announce when Kai was home and not comment before. We had to consent to an agreement of which the terms are not complete until May 3rd! This is an exhausting process, but anything to get Kai home.

This is a miraculous outcome, and I think it is due mostly to the outpouring of international support. Norway’s Barnevernet (their version of CPS) is notoriously stubborn. I’ve seen this in a number of cases, most recently the infamous Bodnariu case. But Kai’s family was able to get in contact with HSLDA, and when we took immediate action to help them, you responded! Tens of thousands of homeschooling and concerned families in the United States and all over the world signed our petition, making contact with Norway’s Barnevernet and embassy and demanding justice for the family. And so instead of facing what could have easily been months of delays, Kai was returned to his family after two weeks.
Now the family can begin healing from the outrageous trauma inflicted on them by this brutal and unjustified violation of their family. As the family notes in their announcement, there are conditions attached to the return of Kai. We understand that these conditions include not publicly commenting on the situation. HSLDA will continue to support the family and seek acknowledgement of the violation of their rights. Homeschooling is never a reason to remove a child from their family. This case demonstrates the battle that we must continue to fight to advance homeschooling freedom, so that no family need fear such a traumatic nightmare when making decisions that are in the best interest of their child, including the decision to choose home education. "
Takže rodiče musí držet hubu, aby o syna znovu nepřišli. Proslýchá se, že museli odevzdat pas, takže ani nemůžou pryč. To tedy není ověřená zpráva, ale je naprosto uvěřitelná (protože Norsko).
